The "Syria 7" package highlights several distinct competencies. This comprehensive package was developed in close partnership with four UNICEF country offices: Syria, Lebanon, Türkiye, and Jordan. It comprises key components such as the main report and infographics, a news note, a primary Public Service Announcement (PSA) in both Arabic and English (including an international variant for adaptation by other country offices), and video human interest stories accompanied by photographs. The focus of this package was on children affected by disabilities due to the conflict.
To achieve a cohesive presentation of digital assets, videos, and photos across all materials, it was crucial to maintain clear and consistent communication with the ground teams in each country. Being based in Jordan, I led the creation of the first story within a Jordanian camp, navigating through various challenges to then share insights and experiences with teams in other locations. This was made possible after I established the digital hub in UNICEF the MENA region and conducted several capacity building workshops, which enabled us to effectively capture and integrate footage from the four countries.
The PSA, for example, features children from Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Türkiye, showcasing a unified theme, message, and stylistic approach among all four field teams. This consistency underscores the effective coordination and shared vision that characterized our collaborative efforts, reflecting the enhanced capabilities brought about by the digital hub and the training provided.
